Status and Events
Canyons South annexation is still under staff review.
Public hearings have not yet been scheduled.
The applicant, Lowe Enterprises, is proposing to annex into the Town of Castle Rock and change the zoning to allow for up to 1,506 single-family homes, a private recreation center, parks and approximately 316 acres of public open space.
An elementary school site and a middle school site have already been dedicated to Douglas County. Read on for detailed information and documents.
What’s the process?
Annexation proposals like this one must follow a state-mandated process, defined in state statute.
That process begins with Town Council determining if the application meets statutory requirements and is eligible to start the annexation process. Then, public hearings can begin.
To aid in Council's decision-making, staff reviews the project, including getting research from other agencies such as Douglas County, local service providers and the Colorado Department of Transportation. Then, the applicant must go through a series of public hearings, including before Planning Commission and Town Council.
Once scheduled, the hearings will be posted on thePublic Notice Calendar on the Town’s website.
