American Rescue Plan

American Rescue Plan Act funds

The Town on May 21, 2021, received a payment of $2,851,550 from the U.S. Department of Treasury under the American Rescue Plan Act.

The Town must obligate these Coronavirus State and Local Fiscal Recovery Funds by Dec. 31, 2024, and expend them by Dec. 31, 2026. They can only be used for these specific, federally authorized purposes:

  • To support public health response
  • To address negative impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic
  • To replace Town revenue lost during the pandemic
  • To provide premium pay for essential workers related to the pandemic
  • For water, sewer and broadband infrastructure

As of this fall, Congress was considering broadening these uses to possibly include road infrastructure. The Town is monitoring developments ahead of decision-making on how to best propose using the funds.

To date, the Town has not obligated nor expended any of the $2.85 million it has received. The Town expects to receive another payment in the same amount in May 2022.
