Where the fun is as full as the moon! Grab your bike, helmet and a few decorations to light up the night with your family at the Town’s annual Pedal the Moon bike ride. This year’s event will be Saturday, Aug. 5, at a new location – Founders Park Pavilion.
Due to construction along Plum Creek Trail and in Festival Park, this year’s event course will be a little different than previous years. Meet at 7 p.m. at the Founders Park pavilion, 4671 Enderud Blvd. Under the light of the moon, riders will begin their journey along the looped course at 8 p.m. The course will follow the paved portion of Mitchel Creek Trail, tour through some of the neighborhood connection trails and end back at Founders Park.
Please keep in mind this is an approximately 6-mile bike ride. However, the course is mostly-flat terrain and suitable for riders of all ages.
Cyclists are encouraged to participate in the festive spirit by decorating their bikes with lights and other decorations. Glow necklaces will be available on a first come, first serve basis at the park and registered participants receive a glow in the dark T-shirt. Additionally, all participants must wear a helmet and have a front headlamp and blinking rear light.
Following the ride, there will be prizes, post ride snacks and plenty of treats for the whole family. Prizes include three new cruiser bikes from Country Pedaler, massage certificates from Elements and Epic Sky Trek passes from Castle Rock Zip Line Tours and more. But don’t forget, only registered riders are eligible and you must be present to win.
Before the event, registration is $10 for adults and $7 for children under 12. On race day, the fee increases to $15 for adults and $10 for children. The registration fee includes a T-shirt, post ride snacks and, of course, a sparkling good time.
