It’s unsettling to consider, but if your home caught fire, would you know how to escape safely? Safety prevention is of top of mind during National Fire Prevention Week Oct. 6-12. Castle Rock Fire and Rescue is encouraging residents to make a home escape plan.
This year, the national theme is “Not every hero wears a cape. Plan and practice your escape.” In honor of that, CRFD will host a dinner for one lucky family who creates a home escape plan and shares the plan with our fire educators. Drop your home escape plan off during designated dates and times below to be entered to win dinner with the family at the fire-house. To be eligible to enter you must be a resident of the Town of Castle Rock Fire Protection District. Complete rules can be found at CRgov.com/FirePrevention.
The designated drop off times at Station 151, 300 Perry St. are:
• Tuesday, Oct. 8, from 2 to 5 p.m.
• Thursday, Oct. 10, from 3 to 6 p.m.
• Tuesday, Oct. 15, from 2 to 5 p.m.
• Saturday, Oct. 19, from 10 a.m. to noon
The contest winner will be announced on the Town’s Facebook page on Wednesday, Oct. 23.
A home escape plan template is available online at CRgov.com/FirePrevention, along with additional information about Fire Prevention Week. Create an escape plan for your family, enter to win and you just may find yourself and your family enjoying dinner with CRFD firefighters!
