With additional COVID-related restrictions taking effect Friday, and with six weeks left until financial support from the federal CARES Act ends, Town Council this week approved a third round of grants for small businesses in Town – this time with fewer qualifications.
Businesses that have received earlier Town grants are eligible to apply; applications are open now through 5 p.m. Friday, Dec. 4, online at CRgov.com/BusinessGrants.
Approximately $500,000 in grants are expected to be awarded in this round, with individual awards of up to $5,000 – both amounts are subject to increase based on funding availability.
Funding priority in this third round of grants will be given to independently owned restaurants and bars, which are being most impacted by the latest public health orders. Preference will also be given to businesses that remitted Town sales tax during 2019.
The same criteria used in the first two rounds of grants generally will apply, though Town Council has adjusted the provisions listed here. Full criteria are available on the grants webpage.
A review team will consider all applications submitted by the deadline and make recommendations for awards, which will be posted to the grants webpage by 5 p.m. Friday, Dec. 11. Town Council will consider and decide on the recommendations on Dec. 15, and assistance checks will go to recipients before Dec. 30 – the final day on which the Town can be reimbursed for the grants under the federal CARES Act.
