Preparing for the future is a top priority at Castle Rock Water. Whether it’s focusing on water quality, championing water conservation, or managing peak demand, Castle Rock Water has a plan. Now, we want to hear from you! Several planning documents have been updated for 2018. But, it’s your water, so tell us what you think.Get caught up on everything happening with Castle Rock Water and join the Water Update Open House from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 7, at the Plum Creek Water Purification Facility, 1929 Liggett Road. Offer feedback on the direction of the department, and get your questions answered by an official water expert. Plus, take a tour of the water treatment facility.Please keep in mind, parking at the facility is limited. Overflow parking will be provided on the street and at Castle Rock Water, 175 Kellogg Court. There will be a shuttle to transport customers to the water treatment facility.As Castle Rock Water works to secure our community’s water future, several planning documents are used to help ensure the department is staying on course. Many of those planning documents are updated in a timely manner and require community feedback. The new, or newly updated, 2018 planning documents are:• Source Water Protection Plan – protecting our surface water from contamination; this plan helps the Town ensure clean and high-quality drinking water source for current and future generations• Drought Mitigation Plan – planning action steps when drought occurs; this plan defines the actions needed to ensure an uninterrupted supply of water when a drought-induced supply shortage exists• Water Use Management Plan – redefining guidelines for all customers; this is a management tool to allow adequate volumes and pressures to the water distribution system during landscape irrigation season• Landscape Criteria Manual – ensuring irrigation and landscape are in compliance; this plan establishes landscape standards and criteria that will reflect Town identityRead more about these plans and the changes coming in 2018 at CRgov.com/WaterOpenHouse.
