New fire station breaks ground, foundation set

As Castle Rock thrives, Castle Rock Fire and Rescue strives to maintain its level of service to the community. That's why a new fire station is being built in Crystal Valley.

CRFD broke ground on the new station in September 2017. The station is expected to open in summer 2018. Here's an update.

Week of Dec. 26

Before any building can go vertical, a solid foundation is necessary. This week, crews finished the foundation for the new fire station. They also started back filling the foundation with soil.

The steel portion of the building was delivered this week, and the foundation has been covered with thermal blankets to protect it from the cold. See progressive photos below.

About the new station

The new fire station will be located on north side of Crystal Valley Parkway, just east of the Crystal Valley Parkway bridge. The location was determined as part of the department’s research for the 2014-17 Fire Master Plan.

To create the plan, Castle Rock Fire and Rescue analyzed the Town’s demographics and growth rate; percentages of build-out for area developments; and calls for service and responses to various areas throughout Town. The analysis indicated the next area of need is Crystal Valley.

The new station is expected to open with 12 new staff members in summer 2018.
