Town Manager's Report to the Community
Meadows Parkway Reconstruction

Meadows Parkway Reconstruction

Road maintenance is imperative to safety and quality of life. That’s why the Town is planning some pretty extensive work along Meadows Parkway in 2018. The Town is investing in a full reconstruction of Meadows Parkway between Prairie Hawk Drive and U.S. Highway 85. Crews will completely remove the concrete pavement and replace it with asphalt. When the work is done, your drive will be much smoother. Work is expected to start May 29 and last through August.

The Town has been preparing for this work for some time. The timing of this project was purposely planned after the opening of Castle Rock Parkway/North Meadows Drive. In addition, the Town last year worked to improve Coachline Road for an anticipated increase in detour-related traffic. The Town intends to maintain one lane of traffic in each direction along Meadows Parkway. Still, we all know this is a busy corridor, and we’re asking you to please drive safely.

Special Election May 15, 2018

In November 2017, voters approved a new Town Council structure. The Mayor will now be elected at large, and there will be six Council districts instead of seven. In an effort to implement this change in time for the Town’s 2018 regular election, Council called for a special election to occur on May 15, 2018.

The 2018 Special Election is intended to define a transition plan — including necessary redistricting — and qualifications of the Mayor.

Completed ballots must be received by 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 15.

Voters should return their ballots by mail, or to one of two 24-hour drop-off locations:
Town Hall parking lot (100 N. Wilcox St.), or
Douglas County Elections parking lot (125 Stephanie Place)

Castle Rock Pavement Maintenance Program

Pavement Maintenance Program

Each year, the Town budgets and plans summer road maintenance on both primary and local streets through the Pavement Maintenance Program. Annual maintenance extends the life of our roads and helps us get the most out of our investment in infrastructure. Concentrating residential work in specific areas of Town improves savings and efficiency. View our interactive map to see when maintenance is expected in your area.
In 2018, we'll be maintaining streets in the eastern part of Castle Rock, which includes Founders Village and Castlewood Ranch. Roadwork generally begins in April/May and is completed by late summer. In all, the Town will invest $11 million in street maintenance this year. The funding is primarily from the Town’s Transportation Fund, which includes revenues from sales tax, motor vehicle tax and building use tax. Learn more about the Pavement Maintenance Program at
