Development Services

Working to ensure quality growth and development.

Implementing Community Vision through Development Activities

Just as decisions made 10, 20 or 100 years ago affect the way Castle Rock looks today, current development decisions impact everything about our community in the future.

The Development Services Department helps define the Town's future by providing high-quality, effective, professional planning services. Using the Vision 2020 and the 2020 Comprehensive Master Plan as blueprints, Development Services helps the Town preserve, protect and enhance the community's quality of life while maintaining its unique character. We strive to ensure quality growth and development that promotes the values and goals of the Town of Castle Rock.

We are responsible for current and long-range planning, zoning, building inspections, code enforcement, land use planning, land use review and permit coordination.

Update:

Residential/Non-Residential Interface Ordinance

After four months of collaboration among Town staff, residents and businesspeople the Town Council unanimously approved regulations designed to lessen the impacts where residential and nonresidential developments meet. The design standards were developed in an effort to help protect property values and to ensure high-quality development and quality of life in Castle Rock.  Click here to view or download the Interface Ordinance.

Sketch Plan Amendment

Related to the approval of the Interface Ordinance, the Town is proposing changes to the Municipal Code that would modify the sketch plan process to include other types of development applications. The goal of this change is to allow presentation of conceptual development plans to the Town Council at a public hearing early in the review process for the purpose of receiving preliminary feedback.  Click here to view or download the staff report and proposed amendment.
