Rueter-Hess Reservoir
Part of the Legacy Water plan
Rueter-Hess Reservoir (near Parker) is an important part of the Town's
long-term water strategy. Castle Rock is a partner in it along with
Parker Water & Sanitation District, Castle Pines North Metro
District and the Stonegate Village Metropolitan District.
The reservoir eventually will hold 74,000 acre-feet of drinking water
for Castle Rock, Parker, Castle Pines North and other local
municipalities. The Town owns 8,000 acre-feet of water storage
space. That is enough storage to hold all of the water used by 18,000
families in one year.

More financial resources will be needed to purchase water to fill our
space and then to build the infrastructure to move the water to Castle
Rock from the reservoir. We are working with adjacent communities to
share in the costs of the infrastructure.
Construction of the reservoir is complete, and it is currently storing
water for the future. For more information and photos of the reservoir,
visit the
Parker Water and Sanitation District website.
