Door to Door Solicitation
Overview

Castle Rock Town Council in 2008 approved an ordinance requiring door-to-door solicitors to obtain a certificate of registration from the Town and comply with guidelines set forth in the ordinance.

Solicitation ordinance
The ordinance provides:

  • The Town Clerk will implement a “No Knock” list
  • Allow for “No Solicitation” signs
  • Enforce time restrictions between 9 a.m. and 7 p.m
  • Door-to-door solicitors must register with the Town Clerk and comply with the restrictions

Note: The ordinance does not require canvassers and noncommercial solicitors to register, but they still must comply with the restrictions.

The ordinance contains methods for registration, revocation of registration, administrative appeal in order to provide for due process and a provision for tracking violations and possible penalties for violation.

To report violations
