Community Wildfire Protection Plan
Assisting homeowners and firefighters
In 2007, the Fire and Rescue Department received its first grant through the Colorado State Forest Service to develop a Community Wildfire Protection Plan. Since that time, the Fire and Rescue Department has developed and implemented a plan working with homeowners in Escavera and the Woodlands.
Such plans assist homeowners and firefighters when wildfires occur. They reduce wildfire risks, increase the survivability of life and property during a wildfire and assist in the fire suppression efforts and access to properties in the wildland-urban interface.
