Neighborhood Emergency Team
Overview
The sub-committee of the Public Safety Commission, with the assistance and support of the Castle Rock Fire and Rescue Department and Castle Rock Police Department, developed the Neighborhood Emergency Team training program, which teaches community groups the essentials of emergency preparedness:
- Emergency food supply recommendations
- Emergency water supply recommendations
- 72-hour emergency kits
- Utility control post-disaster
- Avian flu pandemic preparations
The community presentations are designed to provide the essential information in an hour. Participants receive pre- and post-tests on the lecture materials and are contacted 30 days after the presentation to determine progress being made on emergency preparedness. Each participant will receive handouts and will qualify for additional complimentary rewards upon establishment of their own emergency supplies.
The classes are taught by members of the Public Safety Commission, Police Department and Fire and Rescue Department and focus on community organizations, church groups, HOAs and neighborhood-interest groups.
