No Knock List
About the Town's No Knock List

In 2008, Town Council approved a solicitation ordinance, which set in motion the creation of the No Knock List. Solicitors are prohibited under Town code from knocking at addresses on the list or on doors where “No Solicitation” notices are posted, regardless of whether those addresses are on the list.

Registered Solicitors
Town ordinance  Hawkers, Peddlers and Solicitors (collectively referred to as Solicitors) are generally defined as persons engaged in commercial activity or those attempting to solicit donations.

All of these persons are subject ot the No Knock List and to the restrictions on hours.

Solicitors are required to register with the Town and obtain a license.

Solicitors must present the license, known as a Certificate of Registration, upon a resident's request. The certificate includes the licensee's name, photograph, company name, expiration date and the Town seal. View a Sample License:  OLD sample license  NEW sample license.

Prospective solicitors may download and print our certificate of registration application, which must be submitted in person at Town Hall, 100 N. Wilcox St. Please bring the completed and signed application, a copy of your drivers license, 2 passport photos, and the $35 fee payable to the Town of Castle Rock for each solicitor.

Residents can view our list of registered solicitors.

Canvassers
A Canvasser is generally defined as a person trying to gain support for a certain cause (ie., religious groups, politicial candidates, school and scout groups) and are not required to register with the Town or abide by the No Knock List.

Unless you have changes, you do not need to re-sign up for the No Knock List each year; all information will be carried forward from year to year.
Only one registration per address is needed.

We will mail you a "NO KNOCK" sticker within a week of registering on the list.  You can display this by affixing it to a window, door, sign, etc. to show that you are on the list.

Hours solicitation allowed
Solicitation is only allowed in Castle Rock between 9 a.m. and 7 p.m.

How to report an issue
If a solicitor knocks at your door without a license, outside the allowed hours or in conflict with your No Knock status, call the Town’s Police Dispatch Center, 303-663-6100, while the solicitor is in the area. That way, dispatch can send an officer to investigate if needed.

It is important to know that the Town's ordinance does not prohibit solicitors from hanging fliers on residents’ doors – only from knocking on them.

Those wishing to remove their address from the No Knock List or who have any questions regarding the ordinance should email us.
