Michael J. Hyman began work as Town Attorney July 1, 2020.
Hyman brings to the Town more than 30 years of municipal law experience. For 32 years, he held various positions within the City of Aurora Attorney's Office, spending his last four years as the City Attorney. Immediately prior to coming to Castle Rock, he served two years as the Deputy City Attorney for the City and County of Denver.
Hyman was co-counsel on the landmark TABOR case of City of Aurora v. Acosta - one of his proudest career achievements. In that case, the Colorado Supreme Court confirmed the right of voters in local communities to exempt particular categories of revenue from TABOR limits. Also, while in Aurora, Hyman played a key role in bringing a number of important projects to the community, including the Gaylord Rockies Resort and Convention Center and the Prairie Waters Reuse System.
A long-time Colorado resident, Hyman and his wife, Cindy, have made Castle Rock their home.
