Crowfoot Valley Road Widening

About the project

As the Town grows and traffic volumes increase on Crowfoot Valley Road, we know that you care about the safe and efficient travel along the roadway. A design project is kicking off for the widening of Crowfoot Valley Road from Knobcone Drive to Macanta Boulevard.

Currently, this section of Crowfoot Valley Road is a two-lane, asphalt roadway with portions in the Town of Castle Rock and in Douglas County. Recent improvements have been completed at both ends of this project along Crowfoot Valley Road, and the intent of this project is to complete improvements to fill the gap as identified in the Town's Transportation Master Plan.

This project is a collaborative effort between the Town and Douglas County. Construction is anticipated to begin in late 2023.

The updated recommended design for Crowfoot Valley Road includes wider and taller roadway medians to encourage slower driving speeds. To improve safety, the project team recommends removing the initially proposed acceleration lanes for left-turning traffic from residential side streets onto Crowfoot Valley Road.

The following elements from the initially proposed design will continue to be included in the Town's updated recommendation:

  • Two through lanes in both directions of Crowfoot Valley Road
  • Dedicated left- and right-turn lanes at intersections
  • On-street bike lanes
  • Traffic signal at Sapphire Pointe Boulevard
  • Sidewalk installation on Crowfoot Valley Road, from Knobcone Drive to Macanta Boulevard
