Community CPR and First Aid
This class is for everyone who wants to learn how to provide care for someone with a minor injury or save a person's life. Our new hybrid course is a combination of online content and in-person skills tests. Participants can complete the online portion of class at their leisure before the in-person skills tests. The online blended learning is approximately four hours of online training, including videos, quizzes and interactive modules. The hybrid classes are offered monthly, while the in-person classes are offered once a quarter.
Lifeguard Certification Review Class
The review class gives individuals the opportunity to re-examine the full course content. Participants must hold a current lifeguard certification from the American Red Cross and provide evidence to participate.
Please note, the American Red Cross does not honor any recertification once the certification has expired. If your certification has expired, you will need to retake the lifeguard training class.
Lifeguard Training Class
This course prepares participants for work as professional lifeguards. These classes are taught during Spring Break and again over a weekend in April. They serve as our primary training for summer employment.
Participants must be able to complete a 300-yard swim test utilizing front crawl and breaststroke, tread water for two minutes non-stop using kick only (no arms or hands), retrieve a 10-pound brick from 10-feet deep and return across the 20-yard pool in one minute and forty seconds using kick only.
Participants must also complete an online blended learning portion before the first day of class. Online blended learning is approximately eight hours of online training, including videos, quizzes and interactive modules.
