Castle Rock has retained its ranking amongst the most elite parks and recreation agencies across the country since 2012. The department earned Reaccreditation from the Commission for Accreditation of Parks and Recreation Agencies and the National Recreation and Park Association in October 2020.

The Town of Castle Rock was awarded the Land Manager of the Year award from VOC at it's 2019 annual awards and appreciation dinner. This award recognizes outstanding collaboration, support and continued dedication to outdoor stewardship.
Recognizing the most loved local businesses for kids and families, Philip S Miller Park was voted the Best Place for Outdoor Fun each year since 2018.
Awarded the National Gold Medal Award by the American Academy for Park and Recreation Administration and the National Recreation and Park Association in 2018 and 2012.
Castle Rock has been recognized as a Tree City USA community since 1986. To qualify as a Tree City USA community, the Town must meet four standards established by the Arbor Day Foundation and the National Association of State Foresters. These standards were established to ensure that every qualifying community would have a viable tree management plan and program.
