As an older adult, regular physical activity is one of the most important things you can do for your health. It can prevent or delay many of the health problems that seem to come with age. It also helps your muscles grow stronger so you can keep doing your day-to-day activities without becoming dependent on others. The Recreation has several group fitness classes to meet your needs.
The Castle Rock Recreation Center has a wide offering of active senior classes, all of which are open to all patrons and are included in the facility admission fee. The Recreation Center and Miller Activity Complex are members of the SilverSneakers®, Silver&Fit®, Renew Active and One Pass networks of fitness facilities. Check with either front desk to determine what programs your health coverage provider participates in.
The Fitness and Wellness Division has partnered with the Parkinson's Association of the Rockies to offer a boxing punch class to those with Parkinson's disease. The class is for all levels of fitness and will include boxing, strength training, balance, coordination and flexibility. Classes are free but registration is required at CRgov.com/Registration.
Day/time: Thursday, 3 to 4 p.m. Location: Recreation Center
