Notice is hereby given that an application has been made for a Site Development Plan for Lots 1-4, Block 14, Town of Castle Rock, A Resubdivision of Lots 4-6, Block 14, Town of Castle Rock, County of Douglas, State of Colorado (also known as Olinger Andrews Caldwell Gibson Chapel, 407 Jerry Street, Castle Rock, Colorado). The application proposes to demolish the existing building and construct a new chapel/funeral home with associated site improvements.

The applicant held their first neighborhood meeting on Oct. 16, 2019, and a second neighborhood meeting on Feb. 19, 2020. Due to the Governor’s safer-at-home order, the applicant did not hold a third neighborhood meeting. However, public comments are encouraged. Please see the bulleted options later in this notice on ways to provide public comments. The proposal includes demolishing the existing building, which Town Council approved on Sept. 17, 2019, and building a new chapel. While the existing use as a funeral home and chapel would continue, the new, approximately 8,500 square foot building would include a large front porch for outdoor gathering. The proposed building and site improvements would increase accessibility and would provide accessible restrooms internally. The project would also update and modernize the building systems for energy efficiency. The attached site plan and building elevations show the applicant’s intent to maintain a traditional building design and enhance the exterior site with garden plantings.

Pursuant to Resolutions 2020-044 and 2020-045 as approved by Town Council, a virtual public hearing on said application will be held before the Design Review Board at 6 p.m. Wednesday, July 22, 2020. Due to the Governor’s safer-at-home order, the hearing will be held remotely with no in-person attendance.
