Project description
Castle Rock Water, in collaboration with property owners, has submitted an application for local historical landmark designation for a site that contains three drop structures in McMurdo Gulch. The Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) built the drop structures in the late 1930s under President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s New Deal programs. The work doubled as an employment opportunity for young men during the Great Depression and a conservation improvement for Douglas County. The Town intends to rehabilitate the three drop structures as part of overall improvements to McMurdo Gulch and will be applying for state grants.
