When visiting Downtown Castle Rock, you probably don’t spend much of your time in the alleyways. But, that could change as the Town explores options to transform them into creative and functional spaces.
The Downtown Alley Plan kicks off this summer as a next step in implementing the Downtown Mobility Master Plan. The goal is to create a vision for enhancing and improving safety, accessibility and mobility of the Downtown area for pedestrians and bicyclists. The plan will explore options to bring to life the pedestrian experience through design such as lighting, murals, plants and seating. Downtown alleys are an untapped opportunity to support economic development and provide opportunities for local businesses to thrive.
Feasible design options will be explored for future implementation as resources allow. Residents are encouraged to participate and share input on what they desire to see in Downtown alleyways. Visit CRgov.com/DowntownAlleys to complete a brief questionnaire, and to sign up for project updates.
Meet the project team at 5 p.m. Friday, Aug. 6, at First Fridays at Festival Park to learn about the project and share your thoughts and ideas for Downtown alleys. Look for a table set up near the alley by Dazbog.
The Town received a federal grant for $180,000 as part of the Community Mobility Planning and Implementation Program from The Denver Regional Council of Governments to help fund the Downtown Alley Plan. The remaining $37,000 is funded by the Town’s Transportation Fund.
