Updates to Town Code related to requirements for service on Town boards and commissions was a topic on Town Council’s Feb. 1 meeting agenda. Here is a closer look:
- Ordinance amending requirements related to the Town’s boards and commissions – Town Council approved an ordinance to update requirements related to service on the Town’s boards and commissions.
Volunteer representatives on the Town’s 11 boards and commissions study information and make recommendations within their area of expertise, which may be public safety, roads or water, for example.
The update Council unanimously approved Tuesday requires that all board and commission members take an oath of office; clarifies information on member absences and term limits; and creates model bylaws for the groups so those are consistent among them. The update also clarifies that board and commission members must be Castle Rock or Douglas County residents, with a preference for the former before the latter.

Also on the agenda, Council received a quarterly report regarding how many residences have been constructed in Town versus the amount legally entitled by prior commitments generally dating back to the 1980s and 1990s. This information is available online at CRgov.com/Entitlements.
