[ARCHIVED] Oct. 4 Town Council update

Oct. 4 Town Council update

The Town’s five-year financial and capital improvement plans and a contract to complete the Colorado Front Range Trail were approved at Town Council’s Oct. 4 meeting.

Here is a closer look:

  • Five-year planning documents – Town Council approved the Town’s 2023-2027 Capital Improvement and Balanced Financial plans.

The Capital Improvement Plan presents planning for road, water and parks projects – and more – over the next five years. Projects for 2023 are budgeted, while projects for the outgoing years are subject to change based upon available financial resources.

The Balanced Financial Plan forecasts the Town’s resources for all of its operations over the next five years, including anticipated revenues and staffing additions. Planning over a longer period helps the Town ensure its initiatives planned for 2023 are financially sustainable.

Both documents are available at CRgov.com/2023Budget.

  • Colorado Front Range Trail – The Colorado Front Range Trail will ultimately connect communities from Wyoming to New Mexico. Castle Rock will serve as the trail’s southern crossroads, eventually connecting Douglas County with Denver via the Cherry Creek Regional Trail.

Town Council on Tuesday approved a $7 million contract with Native Sun Construction to complete three segments of trail spanning a total of 5 miles to complete the project within Castle Rock. Segments will be constructed in Cobblestone Ranch, Terrain and Montaine under the contract.

A $2 million grant from Great Outdoors Colorado will help fund the project, which is expected to be completed by fall 2023. Additional information can be found at CRgov.com/FrontRangeTrail.
