Mitchell Gulch Park has been nestled in the Founders Village neighborhood in east Castle Rock for more than 20 years. The park, also affectionately called Fireman’s Park due to its proximity to Fire Station 153, will undergo renovations to improve accessibility, address life-cycle replacements and enhance the user experience.
Mitchell Gulch Park renovations are expected to be completed in summer 2023 and include:
- dedicated paved parking lot
- six tennis courts and associated infrastructure
- pavilion
- new playground structures
- permanent cornhole lawn game with seating
- fitness elements
- bike skills area
- new walkways
- all-season restroom
- upgrades to irrigation and accessibility
- additional site lighting
The basketball hoop and court will remain in place at the park. However, soon the park will be fenced off for construction.
“We’re looking forward to making some exciting improvements to this neighborhood park that we believe residents and visitors will enjoy for years to come,” said Parks and Recreation Director Jeff Brauer.
Join us for a project kickoff from 4 to 5 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 25, at Mitchell Gulch Park, 200 Mikelson Blvd. The event is open to the public and will include lawn games, a hot cocoa bar, a trick-or-treat buffet and a cookie decorating station.
