[ARCHIVED] Homeowner alert: Keep land use local ... take action today!

Homeowner Alert: Keep land use local ... take action today!

Imagine a six-plex — with no parking required — rising up next door to your family's home. That is the reality that a bill being considered by the State General Assembly could bring.

Senate Bill 213 (https://leg.colorado.gov/bills/sb23-213) would drastically alter the Town's ability to regulate land uses within Castle Rock. If the bill becomes law, multifamily dwellings would be allowed virtually anywhere single-family homes are allowed — including in existing single-family neighborhoods, without requiring additional parking.

Town Council is opposing the bill and encourages Castle Rock residents to do the same. Follow the bill link to view details, including contact information for the bill's sponsors and for members of the State Senate's Local Government & Housing Committee, which will take testimony on the bill tomorrow, Thursday, April 5. Sign up to provide testimony: https://www2.leg.state.co.us/CLICS/CLICS2023A/commsumm.nsf/signIn.xsp?fbclid=IwAR0DbGu2FWR2NtOGKvxiEjF3yIwHSC9POVoOvHdjoSAZNTmo3SzzQUTfBZs

Suggested message to share: I urge you to vote no on Senate Bill 213. Please do not force Statewide mandates on local land-use matters. Local residents and representatives — not State legislators and regulators — should be able to decide what’s right for our community. Please reject this overreaching legislation to ensure a high quality of life and sound economic environment continue within Castle Rock. Thank you.
