May is Historic Preservation Month and the community is invited to celebrate it in Downtown Castle Rock. Learn fascinating stories of the people and places that helped shape the unique character of our Town with events throughout the month.

The Town’s Historic Preservation Board has partnered with The Castle Rock Historical Society and Museum on events planned throughout the month to celebrate our community’s rich history.

Ways to celebrate Historic Preservation Month:

  •  Participate in Scavenge the Rock throughout the month of May. Collect points throughout the scavenger hunt of historic Downtown Castle Rock locations and be entered to win tickets to the Castle Rock’s Summer Concert Series, passes to Red Hawk Golf Course and more.
  • Take a free Town Trolley ride and learn about Castle Rock’s history on May 6. Hosted by Castle Rock Historic Society and Museum, tours depart from the museum at 9:30 a.m., 10:30 a.m., 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. Reservations are required.
  • Attend the Craig and Gould neighborhood celebration and time capsule event from 4 to 6 p.m. May 25 at Triangle Park, located at Sixth and Gilbert streets.
  • Take a self-guided walking tour of historic Castle Rock neighborhoods.

The Town and the Historic Preservation Board provide tangible support toward the preservation, rehabilitation and restoration of Town buildings through the Design Assistance Program, the Downtown Historic Preservation Grant and the Local Restoration Grant.

Visit the Historic Preservation Month page at CRgov.com/HistoricPreservationMonth for a full list of event details and registration, along with information about how the Town supports the preservation of historic places in Castle Rock.
