[ARCHIVED] Stay cool with CRPD’s Frosty Five-O ice cream trailer

Looking to keep your kids cool this summer? The Castle Rock Police Department presents Frosty Five-O, an ice cream trailer equipped with a large freezer that allows local officers to visit Castle Rock’s parks, trails and neighborhoods.

CPRD’s Community Partnership Unit will make sporadic stops to distribute free ice cream and cool summer treats to the Town’s youth.

“We’ve seen how successful our Splash Mob and Dirt Jumps and Donuts events have been when it comes to building relationships with kids,” said Special Operations Commander Mark Galvan. “We understand how important these interactions are. By creating this program, we’re finding another way to increase community engagement and bring officers into our neighborhoods.”

Community Partnership Officer Seth Morrissey was able to quickly bring the idea to fruition through the generosity of the community. Organizations including Dads of Castle Rock Community Outreach, Rotary Club of Castle Rock, Skurich Memorial Fund, Stinkin’ Good, Operation Rehydration, Lowe’s, Inkferno Creative and Colorado Trailers Inc. donated funds and/or services to cover the costs of the trailer and wrap, as well as treats for the next few seasons.

“The partnerships we have with organizations in our community are simply amazing,” said Officer Morrissey. “All it took was a phone call to each of the sponsors. As soon as I explained what we were trying to do, every one of them wanted to be a part of it and help out financially.”

The Frosty Five-O trailer will serve a wide variety of treats to accommodate different dietary and allergy needs. Available treats will be displayed on the truck and will include everything from popsicles to frozen fruit bars, ice cream cones and more. All treats will be prepackaged.

“We can’t wait to see all of the smiles when we pull up with the ice cream trailer for the first time,” Officer Morrissey said.
