[ARCHIVED] Town first responders to host free car seat safety check event July 1

With 70% of children restrained incorrectly, it’s fair to say car seat installation is complicated. Keep your small passengers safe by getting your car seats checked for free on Saturday, July 1.

The Castle Rock Police Department and Castle Rock Fire and Rescue have teamed up to host a car seat safety check event from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Alexander Building parking lot at Castle Rock Adventist Hospital, soon to be AdventHealth Castle Rock, 2350 Meadows Blvd.

Certified car seat technicians will be present to help guide you through the process of properly installing your car seat. Please note the technicians will not install the car seat.

Castle Rock expectant parents, families with small children and caretakers such as grandparents, family members and daycare providers are welcome to attend the event to ensure their car seat is appropriate for their child with regard to height, weight and age.

We encourage caregivers to install the car seat to the best of their ability according to the car seat and vehicle manuals prior to the inspection. If your car seat has an expiration date that has already passed, the technicians will not be able to assist you with its installation and will encourage you to purchase a newer one.

Our certified car seat technicians will help you learn about your car seat and guide you through the process of installing your car seat correctly. Be prepared to learn, our certified car seat technicians are trained to teach you.

Please bring the following with you to the event:

  • Car seat installed in vehicle to the best of your ability
  • Car seat manual
  • Vehicle manual
  • Current weight and height of child

No appointment is necessary. Together, we can work to ensure our smallest residents are properly restrained.
