  • Ages 15 to 18: 200-meter swim (eight pool lengths, down and back four times), 16-kilometer bike ride and 3-mile run

Bike racks open at 6:30 a.m. for ages 7 to 18, and the transition area closes at 7:15 a.m. to prepare for the first race. The races begin at 7:30 a.m. and there will be a rolling start with age groups following in order from oldest to youngest. The race for ages 5 to 6 does not begin until 10:30 a.m.

Event fees are $70 and the registration deadline is Tuesday, Sept. 5. Registration fees include a T-shirt, goody bag and post-race meal.

Is your child anxious about participating in a triathlon for the first time? Make sure they’re prepared with a free informational clinic on Sunday, Sept. 3, at Butterfield Crossing Park. Participants ages 7 to 18 are invited at 1 p.m. Younger athletes (ages 5 to 6) are invited at 1:45 p.m. The clinic is designed to ease anxiety for kids and their parents and will include a review of the race course and additional information. Although the clinic is free, registration is required because space is limited.
