[ARCHIVED] Save the date! The next drug take-back event is Oct. 28

Save the date. CRPD participates in DEA Prescription Drug Take Back Day on Oct. 28.

Looking for a way to dispose of your unused, unwanted or expired medications? The Castle Rock Police Department is participating in the Drug Enforcement Agency’s National Prescription Drug Take Back event on Saturday, Oct. 28. CRPD will have collection sites at the following locations from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. where you can dispose of your medications free of charge.

  • Castle Rock Police Department, 100 Perry St.
  • King Soopers Promenade (Pharmacy Drive-Thru Lane 2), 5544 Promenade Parkway

Some commonly asked questions about the National Prescription Drug Take Back event can be found below:

  • Will you accept needles for disposal? Intravenous solutions, injectables and syringes will NOT be accepted at this event.
  • Can I drop off liquid medication? Yes. Liquid products should remain sealed in their original containers. The containers should not leak.
  • Do I need to take the medication out of its original container? It’s up to you! You may dispose of your medication in the original container if you choose. You are encouraged to remove any identifying information from the label if applicable.

The DEA events are held twice annually in April and October. Can’t make it? CRPD has a drop-box for medication in its main lobby. Available Monday through Friday during regular business hours (holidays excluded), this service is offered as another way to make sure prescription and over-the-counter drugs, vitamins, pet medications and more can be properly discarded.

Your efforts help us keep drugs out of Castle Rock's water system and away from individuals and children who shouldn't have access to them.
