Customer question: When will we be using reuse water?
After 15 years of planning, community outreach, treatment process analysis, and regulation considerations, Castle Rock Water will be utilizing reuse water in October 2020. This huge step in diversifying our water supplies will constitute about 1/3 of the Town’s water supply, further creating a long-term, sustainable supply.
The Town is only one step ahead of the rest of the South Metro communities, who by 2065, are also expected to see 1/3 of all their water supply as reuse water. Actually, many of these South Metro communities, including Castle Rock, have already begun adding some reuse water to their existing supplies. WISE water, an imported supply for Castle Rock and many South Metro communities, contains Aurora’s Prairie Waters, a purified reuse supply.
Look to the coming months for additional information from Castle Rock Water about how the treatment processes work and how this water supply provides for a stronger future for Castle Rock. You can also find more info at CRgov.com/ReuseWater.
