Don’t miss the final concert in this year’s First Fridays event series. Shelvis and the Roustabouts takes the stage at Festival Park Friday, Sept. 3. Voted Denver’s Best Band (2019) by the readers of 5280 Magazine, Shelvis and the Roustabouts are an energetic Rockabilly/Americana band. Lori “Shelvis” Muha is an entertainment powerhouse. She captures the audience with her amazing vocals and high-energy performances. Focusing on the music of Elvis, Buddy Holly, Johnny Cash and other Rockabilly pioneers, Muha and her band of Roustabouts transport the audience to a time when rock was born. Enjoy live music, food trucks, cocktails, kids’ activities and more. House music begins at 5 p.m. The featured artist starts around 5:45 p.m., and the festivities continue until 9 p.m. Start the night off right with the First Fridays 5K. These free, theme-based run/walks are fun for the entire family. The unofficially timed races start at 5:30 p.m. right in Festival Park. Prizes will be awarded to the best themed costumes. Ridgeline Wranglers Trail Maintenance EventRidgeline Wranglers is a volunteer trail maintenance group that meets once a month to help maintain and improve the trails at Ridgeline Open Space. Don't miss the next maintenance event! Meet at the trailhead parking lot off of Coachline Road at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 11. A waiver is required for all participants. However, related participants can be listed on the same waiver form. Gloves, tools and water are provided. Youth under the age of 14 require an adult over 21 to supervise.

Young athletes encouraged to "try" at annual youth triathlon on Sept. 12Just try. That’s the motto local kids should keep in mind as they pull on their swimsuits, dust off their bikes and lace up their sneakers. It’s time for the Town’s annual Tri the Rock youth triathlon.
This year’s event is from 7:30 a.m. to noon Sunday, Sept. 12, at Butterfield Crossing Park and Pool, 3952 W. Butterfield Crossing Drive. Registration is available at CRgov.com/TriTheRock.
Young athletes of all ability levels, ages 5 to 18, are invited to participate. Please remember, participants compete based on their age as of race day. The race distances are:
- Ages 5-6: 25-meter swim (one pool length), 1-kilometer bike ride (one lap around Butterfield Park) and a 500-meter run
- Ages 7-10: 50-meter swim (two pool lengths, down and back), 4-kilometer bike ride and a 1-kilometer run
- Ages 11-14: 100-meter swim (four pool lengths, down and back twice), 8-kilometer bike ride and a 2-kilometer run
- Ages 15-18: 100-meter swim, 16-kilometer bike ride and 3-miile run
Event fees are $65 and the registration deadline is Friday, Sept. 10. The registration fee includes a T-shirt, goody bag and post-race meal. The local school with the most participants will get to display the traveling Tri the Rock trophy for an entire year.
Bike racks open at 6 a.m. for ages 7-18, and the transition area closes at 7:15 a.m. to prepare for the first race. The races begin at 7:30 a.m. with age groups following in order from oldest to youngest. The race for ages 5-6 does not begin until 10:30 a.m. Packet pickup is available during normal store hours Sept. 6 through 11, at RNR Running & Walking, 440 Fourth St.
