Welcome to the Castle Rock Parks and Recreation Department!
Through thoughtful planning, skillful execution and community support, the Town of Castle Rock has established a world-class community for park and recreation resources. With rapid growth and development, our comprehensive planning, commitment to the natural environment and leadership in community health and wellness are a significant influence on the quality of life experienced by residents of Castle Rock.
The Parks and Recreation Department is responsible for park design and development, open space acquisition and management, trail planning and construction, development of recreation facilities and programming, athletics, aquatics, golf and special events coordination. We approach our responsibilities with the vision to see obstacles as opportunities.
In its short history, the Castle Rock Parks and Recreation Department has been a finalist for the National Gold medal three times, and the national winner in 2012 and 2018. The National Gold Medal honors communities that demonstrate excellence in long range planning, resource management and innovative approaches to delivering superb park and recreation services with fiscally sound business practices. This is the highest achievement an agency can receive and the residents of Castle Rock can continue to expect this level of excellence.
The Commission for Accreditation of Parks and Recreation Agencies (CAPRA) has recognized Castle Rock Park and Recreation for meeting or exceeding over 144 standards of performance for excellence in operation and service, providing assurance to the public that the agency exceeds national standards of best practices. We maintain accreditation as an internal benchmark of quality.
So What Moves You? Some residents are moved by Castle Rock’s small town charm. Others by our community’s ability to come together to celebrate as one – whether it be at Starlighting, a movie night at Festival Park or at the finish line of the Castle Rock Half Marathon. We want to capture your life moments here. We have the ability to come together as community, to celebrate, to mourn…what moves you is a deeper commitment to this community. One thing is certain in regard to What Moves You. Each resident of Castle Rock is moved by something different, and each of those things is what moves us to provide excellence in Park and Recreation services.
